Parent Programme

The Parent Programme is designed to support parents to support a young performer. By working with parents and carers to help address their own well-being, we believe this will have a positive impact on the wellbeing of their children. By prioritising this it can enhance performance and enrich lives.

Session One.

Supporting you to support them.

We examine the role of the parent within the context of the support triangle. Parents are encouraged to share their experiences in order to develop a collaborative approach and an even greater understanding of their role.

Session Two.

How do we support?

We look at how parents can support their young performers and share experiences of what has worked well. This examines a variety of strategies that support the performer through communication techniques and practical measures.

Session Three.

Looking After You.

Here we explore how as parents it is important to look after ourselves to be able to deal with the stresses and anxieties performers may face. Parents are asked to reflect on what do they do for themselves. As simply, the well-being of parents will help the well-being of the performers.

Session Four.

Intros and Exits.

Parents are asked to examine the emotions around entering and exiting a performance setting. We explore a balanced view - focusing on the positive experience and that the exit point is not the end.
