The Triangle of Support ▲

Who we are.

We are a support network for amateur and professional sport, dedicated to the promotion of positive well-being and good mental health.

We talk from experience as professional players, coaches, educators and parents.

We have experienced first-hand how poor mental health can impact on many people in sport, and how prioritising well-being can both enhance performance and enrich lives.

We support you to support the players, the parents and the coaches, in order to create a collaborative network that we believe is pivotal to the development of high-performing individuals.

Our aim.

We explore well-being and emotional awareness to build self-esteem, and consequently enhance performance. We do this by creating a positive environment where people can share experiences to support each other.

We recognise that the network formed between player, coach, and parent is vital to encourage clarity, openness and integrity.

Our rationale.

It is widely accepted that sporting organisations have a duty of care to the young people they work with, and it is well-documented that parental engagement can have a significant impact on young people’s well-being.

By working with parents and carers to help address their own well-being, we believe this will have a positive impact on the well-being of their children.

Likewise, working with coaches in the same way will result in a consistent message that will in turn create a positive environment for parents and carers, and players alike.

The result: young people who have a sense of self-awareness about well-being are more likely to be happy and grounded, and hence have a greater ability to perform at a higher level.

People who are involved in sport understand that it’s a combination of sheer enjoyment, a connection to other people and a sense of belonging, and a desire to achieve that drives a love of any game: these tenets can easily get lost in the business of sport, but we endeavour to communicate that they are very much at its heart.

Our approach.

We are independent from any club or organisation, but will work with any club or organisation.

Our programmes are tailored to the needs of the clubs and organisations we work with, as we understand that one size doesn’t fit all.

We question and research, we analyse and listen, we collaborate - and then we propose a strategy based on each club’s individual context and needs.

We pride ourselves on addressing the needs of the players, the parents and the coaches in a manner that is kind and honest.
